Description
B&G Precision 9 Compass
B&G Precision 9 Compass is a modern solid state marine compass with no moving parts. Because of this it is almost immune to vessel motion, and provides accurate heading, rate of turn, roll, and pitch data. Connection is via an industry standard NMEA 2000 micro C plug.
Heading and rate of turn are calculated from 9 axes of motion. Accuracy is +/- 2 deg after calibration. Mounting can be either on a bulkhead, or up a mast.
B&G Precision 9 Compass can be used in any NMEA2000 network. It is the single best improvement you can make to many older Autopilots, because of it’s consistent accuracy. Older compasses would take some time to recover from impacts, so as to produce an accurate heading. Solid state (no moving parts) compasses have solved this problem! A replacement compass can be the next best thing to a complete autopilot upgrade.
Please be certain to mount the B&G Precision 9 Compass in a location where it wont be effected by ferrous metals, such as toolboxes etc. Even though this is a solid state compass, it is still a magnetic compass!
Easy to install, the B&G Precision 9 Compass comes with a bracket for either bulkhead orientation, horizontal or vertical. Connection the the NMEA 2000 bus is by a standard micro C connector. You will need a spare T connector on the bus. If you don’t have one see the links below. Also links below for additional cable if required. Please remember that the drop lead from the bus cannot be more than 7m. If there is a terminator on the end of your cable, please don’t remove it and plug this in directly – the bus MUST have a terminator at each end to function correctly. Use a T connector! Replace any terminators you remove. Remember on many yachts the masthead wind transducer often has a terminator built in.
